So Many Crafts, So Little Time

It's been awhile since I last posted, but a lot has happened. I've just been super busy with school this past semester. During the semester, I mostly did a bunch of origami, since it was quick and easy to do. Lots of tiny paper cranes which I hid all over, and a modular soma cube  puzzle thing.

I also started making little origami balls. This was the smallest one I managed to make. I put it on a dime for scale.

There was also a holiday card challenge on Deviantart, so I made a few cards for that in between studying for finals.

And a Pokemon pun one, just for fun!

Then we did secret santas in my dorm hall, and I made a stocking for my person, which I filled with candy.

And this past week, I made some Christmas ornaments using baking soda clay! Including footprints of some of our pets. I only got a print from one of the ducks, though. It was hard enough chasing one of them down...

And last but not least, I finished the first of the many plushies I'll be making for Christmas, as per my usual tradition... Hopefully I'll get them all done on time this year.

Just like with my Sylvan the Ranger plushie, though, this Mew started off very fluffy!

Not a Llama

It's been awhile, and a lot has happened, but I just finished another plushie! This one is of Sylvan the Ranger, a Ramkahen character created by Galder, who was running a contest on Deviantart to depict his characters, which I made this plushie for.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, although the face and hair could use a bit of work. According to my boyfriend, however, it's a funny-looking llama. I think that stemmed from the fact that I made it out of fur fabric that was way too fluffy and had to trim it down, so there was a point before I added the arms and whatnot that it looked like this:

Thankfully after the trim it looked a bit less like a llama and more like a lion-centaur thing, like it's supposed to :) However, it also left me completely covered in fluff...

How to Sew Your Dragon

This post is super late, but I wanted to wait until after I had finished making the tutorial, and that took much longer than I anticipated, especially with homework and whatnot...
But anyways, I finally made my first plush dragon from a pattern of my own!

And here is a link to the pattern and tutorial, so you can make your own if you want to! :)

I'm a Knight... Part 5!

I finished my armor! And my swords! I think I look much more knightly now :)

Spray painting the broadsword was very interesting, though, since it was so long... I had to suspend it from a string while it dried so it wouldn't get stuck to anything. Oh, and don't mind the log in the picture... I'm going to do something with it eventually... hopefully.

I also made another, much lighter and more wieldy sword! I like how the crossguard came out on it much better, and it's awesome to swing around!

I also decided to make a couple of darts. I ended up painting them black, but I forgot to take another picture.

So now, I think I'm ready for battle! :)

I'm a Knight... Part 4

It's been awhile since I finished up my cardboard breastplate and pauldrons. But I had always intended to make a few more pieces of armor, and then my friends at school decided to have a battle in cardboard armor! So... I'm making more pieces now, and weapons! Typical me, I procrastinated... a lot. So I only really started 2 days ago, but didn't have much to show until yesterday. And the battle is tomorrow, so these aren't going to be the most fancy things. Plus I'm not sure if I'm allowed to use paper mache... Anyways, I made some bracers and leg guards of a sort, to add to my existing armor. (I would have worn them all at once, but the breastplate is annoying to get in and out of, so I didn't want to do it late last night...)

Then, I also made a knife, complete with a scabbard to put it into:

And, my sword! It still doesn't have a cross guard yet, but other than that it's mostly finished. I also made a ball out of cardboard that I'm going to put in the end of the hilt once the sword is all painted. The only problem is that it might be a little too big and heavy for me to swing around... we'll see, I guess.

Well, hopefully I'll be able to finish these by tomorrow and get them all painted! And make another, smaller sword just in case...

Odds and Ends

It always seems like when I actually start getting stuff done and have time to work on crafts, it all happens at once... Like right before Spring Break started, I finished this coffee table in my woodworking class.

And in AP Chemistry, we made borax crystals again! These ones are a bit simpler than the dragon I made last year, but they're still cool!

And then I finished this blanket for one of my best friends! It's really long since she's super tall.

You Don't Understand. I Need Pi.

Another Pi Day! Yay! I made 3 this year- cherry, apple, and blackberry. Some of the crusts got a little stained from the filling, since I'm bad at covering pies... whoops. At least they'll still taste just as good. And there isn't a snow day this year, so I can actually bring them into school today! :)

Also, this is kind of how I feel when I can't eat pie on Pi Day... Good thing I can make my own!

If It Doesn't Have a Tail, It's Not a Monkey

It’s finished! Isn’t he cute? And I even was able to get a good picture outside in the sun!

He has pipe cleaners inside him, so he can be posed and can hold his banana! And yes, he has a tail, so he’s definitely a monkey :)

However, in the process of designing his head, I ended up accidentally making a gorilla head, so I guess I made an ape too… maybe I’ll eventually make a body for the gorilla too. But for now, I think I’ll try to focus on my dragon! Also, here's the monkey pattern I created to make this guy!

Why Do I Get So Distracted?

Though I did get a bit done on my monkey pattern yesterday, I also ended up getting distracted way too much... like when I decided I wanted to carve some pencils.

At least they turned out cool. I made the pi symbol first and then the fehu rune after, which turned out a bit better because of all its straight lines.
So, I still haven't finished my monkey yet or made any progress on the dragons, but hopefully I will today.

The Dragons Are Coming!

I've been dreaming of designing a dragon pattern for awhile now, and a few months ago, I started making a dragon whelpling, as evidenced by the prototype head below; but the body had been giving me some trouble, so I set it aside for a bit. But last night, I was in the middle of making a monkey pattern when I randomly thought of making a different type of body for my dragon's head to attach to, and I sketched out a bunch of the pieces for it!

I mean, I still have to finish the monkey first, but then I should have a bit of free time where I can work on this guy, which I'm super excited about! :)

That Was Close!

I know this post is a few days late... but I finished the last plushie for my friends for Christmas on Tuesday... like 15 minutes before I gave it away... so I literally took this picture on a table at school before hurriedly wrapping it up. I made my own pattern for it, an improved version of the mudkip pattern I made last year... Though it's still a bit top-heavy and the mouth looks a little odd, so I'll probably refine the pattern a bit before sharing it.

And this is a picture of all of the plushies I made for my friends this Christmas and last Christmas. I still can't believe how much I've improved in just one year... Like, all of the plushies I made this time have eyes!

Deja Vu

Well, I didn't quite finish all of the plushies on time... I finished two of the three, so only one of them will be late... just like last year. And I'm going to give that last friend their present on January 9th... just like last year. Wow. I really need to get better at getting things done earlier...
Anyways, the first plushie I finished yesterday was this kitten, made with this pattern.

And I also finished a dachshund, made with this pattern.

Almost there...

I finished up three more plushies yesterday!

I made this totoro using a pattern made by Cheek and Stitch. For some reason the site isn't working anymore, and I'm not sure where else to find the pattern online that I could link it to...

Then I also made this baby raptor with this pattern by IsisMasshiro. I purposefully left off its claws so it would match the raptor I made last year for one of my friends.

And I also finished up a sea turtle made with this pattern.

Now I just have three more to finish up for tomorrow!

Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo, Fishy in the Sea

This Ponyo took a rather long time... I mean, it didn't help that I kept switching between the 8 or so plushies I have left to make for the past few days or that I've had school, so I couldn't work on plushies as much... But I finished her!

I made the pattern myself, which I think turned out pretty well. Her hair is made of yarn, which is the main reason this plushie took so long to make.
I also made a Luma from Mario, using this pattern and tutorial.

Now I just have 6 left to finish by Monday. My goal before was to get them all done by today, since it's the 12th day of Christmas, but that didn't end up happening... But there's no school today due to the cold, so I wouldn't have been able to give them to my friends until Monday anyways. And now I have all day to work on plushies! :)

There's a... Goat on Your Lawn

One of the plushies I finished yesterday was this little peashooter. The pattern piece for the head came from this site, but I had to make up all the other pieces. Thankfully they were all just leaf shapes and circles and rectangles. He's attached to a piece of felt-covered foam the same way as the baby Groot I made earlier, so that he sits nicely in the pot. His stem is the only piece with a pipe cleaner in it, to help him stand straight in the pot.

I also made a little goat, using this pattern.
